Research and Extension

Research and extension together with instruction constitute the three pronged reach of education.

  • The problems in the workplace, within or without the classroom, call the attention of educators for study, deeper understanding, proper action, and thus result in valuable contribution to the evolving and dynamic developments of education with special attention to the unique setting of the local community.
  • It shall therefore be the concern and obligation of each member of the NSC community of educators to be aware and conscious of these problems on the ground relevant to instruction and pursue the search for in-depth understanding of these problems and appropriate remedies tried and tested.
  • An action research paper or papers shall be the output of this endeavor to find answers to questions and doubts, possible means to meet and overcome the  challenges encountered in the workplace and thus contribute to the advancement of education, In the case of the faculty in the tertiary level an exploratory or partial research problem should be an output at the close of the first semester which shall be completed at the close of the academic year in March 2020.
  • Likewise, the community served by NSC should feel the benefits of the positive  growth and development of the learning institution in its midst, which, hopefully would improve the quality of life in the community. A community extension program therefore shall be set up to share whatever blessings NSC receives for the betterment and enrichment of the service area.

  • Uniform Drive. Rationale. Employees/teachers/ instructors are expected to be in proper attire befitting the dignity of their position at all times, especially during working days. Judicious and proper selection of fabric and cut for uniform of everyone in the workforce gives the appearance of propriety of attire at all times without distinction.  It shall likewise be noted that the uniform attire is an effective leveling instrument.  Finally inasmuch as our students and pupils are expected to be in proper uniform every day, it is a sensible policy and practice, also common courtesy to them , for the school  personnel to be similarly attired in uniform to serve as models in conformity and discipline.

  • One Free School Uniform Yearly.  It has been the practice every year to provide the workforce  free clothing material for  uniform. A daily uniform attire is agreed upon by everyone in the school personnel and everyone is expected to cooperate by wearing this attire daily
  • For the men, they should be attired in whatever uniform is prescribed for the day.  Polo barong or plain colored shirt with sleeves, collar, and breast pocket is prescribed. Also, dark pants and shoes (not sneakers or sandals) with matching socks.  T-Shirt and Shorts are  disallowed inside the campus.
  • For the women, they should be attired in whatever uniform is prescribed for the day with matching shoes (not step-ins or sandals) and if possible, a pair of stockings is advisable.
  • Within the school premises, especially inside the classroom, advisers/teachers/instructors are  expected to enforce the uniform drive among the students, program chairpersons and non-teaching personnel are likewise expected to cooperate in the enforcement of this drive among the students and the school personnel.  There are sanctions against the violation of the uniform drive  which shall be strictly imposed. Violation of this drive merits penalty of fine or salary deduction.

  • Cleanliness/Beautification Drive
  • Rationale:  Cleanliness and the other educational thrusts of the school are vital tools in values formation and discipline in the work place.  While academic pursuit and advancement in knowledge, skills, competencies, and positive attitudes formation are major concerns of the school, values formation and character building are no less important in the educational process.  Cleanliness, order, beautification of the surroundings and discipline are values to be instilled both  in the NSC workforce and students.
  • Everyone in the NSC Community, especially the faculty and program chairpersons, is entrusted with the responsibility of helping build the wholesome character of each student within or under his/her area of responsibility and, for that matter, all students of NSC.
  • In instilling these values of cleanliness, order, and beautification of surroundings and discipline, it is necessary that everyone in the NSC Community, most particularly, the Dean and program  chairpersons within their program of responsibility and the teachers/instructors among their students must demonstrate in their personality and character that they are models and practitioners of these values and virtues.  They are   expected to:
  • Spend a few minutes of their time, upon entering classroom, and before starting classes, to make it clear to everybody that he/she will not begin class unless the surroundings are clean and neat; he/she shall request the students to look around and under their seats for litter or trash, pick this up, and drop in the trash container.
  • As homeroom adviser, personally supervise the cleaning of the classroom; in no case shall the class adviser allow cleaners to clean the homeroom without his/her personal supervision.
  • See to it that the rooms are clean and orderly at all times of the day.
  • See to it that the students go to the comfort rooms when they have to spit, blow nose, urinate or, in any way, respond to the call of nature; in no case should a student be tolerated to do these things anywhere else  except in the comfort room areas.
  • See to it that the students do not eat inside the buildings , much less, inside the classrooms,   This practice/habit, if tolerated, add to the litter and trash in the surroundings.  Also, this attracts pests such as ants, flies, roaches, rats, etc.
  • Request parents of students habitually violating the cleanliness drive to come to school for consultation and/ or counseling  or agree on action needed  by the student.
  • Strictly enforce sanctions against violation of the cleanliness drive.

  • SPEAK ENGLISH DRIVE
  • Rationale.  Universalism, globalization, international and worldwide competitions in commerce and industry, international diplomacy all require proficiency in English which quality education is expected to respond to.  Another factor is that the previous traditional Philippine superior proficiency in English in Asia has been overtaken by neighboring countries who have dramatically advanced in English proficiency leaving the Philippines behind with unfavorable consequences in international competitions, commerce, industry, diplomacy.
  • Filipinos used to be known as more proficient in English than our neighbors; but this proficiency has been observed to have deteriorated.
  • Technical books and materials, examination/test and other evaluation instruments both local and especially national and international are mostly crafted in English language to the disadvantage of Filipino students needing improvement in English proficiency.  There is therefore a felt need to help our students gain proficiency in the English Language.
  • In response to this felt need, everyone in the NSC community employees/teachers/instructors and students-are expected to speak in English inside the school premises.  Sanctions shall be strictly imposed on any violation of this drive.
