A grade is an evaluation of the student’s performance in a given course according to the criteria set at the start of the quarter. These standards reflect the quality of the student’s achievement of all the objectives of the course for a grading period.
- There are four grading periods technically known as Quarters. At the end of each quarter, the students are individually rated according to their individual achievement of the objectives set for the quarter.
- In-between the quarterly periodical evaluation is the monthly achievement evaluation the result of which is added to the result of the quarterly evaluation then divided by “2” to come up with the quarterly evaluation result.
- The averaging system is adopted in the quarterly evaluation, whereby the performance of each student for the quarter is his / her grade for that quarter. But in the computation of the final grade, the grades of the four quarters are added up, the sum of which is divided by “4” the result of which becomes the final grade.
For example: 1st Quarterly Grade – (prelim) 85
2nd Quarterly Grade – (midterm) 88
3rd Quarterly grade – (semi final) 84
4th Quarterly Grade – (final) 87
Sum Total 344 1_4_ + 86
Therefore, the final grade is “86”.
- The numerical system of grading is used and grades are expressed in multiples of one. However, in case of a tie in the selection of honor students, grades shall be computed up to two decimal places.
- The passing mark in any given learning area is 75% or better. The highest grade is 100% and the lowest is 70%
- If tentative grades is between 71 and 74 , teacher discretion shall be applied, so definitely mark 75 or 70.
7.. The grade in each subject area will be based on certain criteria weighted according as
follows:
- To get Weighted Average in College
- Only academic subjects are included in the computation
- P.E. and NSTP are not included in the computation
- For High School Failed subject (remedial subjects) taken during summer are not included in the computation
- Required subjects (non-remedial subjects) taken for the first time during the summer will be included in the computation of the weighted average for the succeeding year.
To Compute Weighted Average;
- Multiply the grades per subject by the number of units for all academic subjects taken during the first and second semester.
